Flora, Fauna & Flags

I’m trying hard to pay close attention to the changing vegetation and I am noticing incremental changes in plants and trees from our start at the coast.  It’s so interesting!

Other things I’ve observed:

  • rural Florida is beautiful.
  • big, huge ranches with calves frolicking near their moms.
  • the trucks are big.  The dogs are huge and mostly behind fences.  Except for one.  My already fast beating heart almost jumped out of my chest.
  • boiled peanuts is a thing.  Even in convenience stores.
  • huge pine tree farms, large nature preserves and soooo many state parks.
  • the birds sing beautifully to me as I bike past wildlife sanctuaries.
  • a lot of people here really like big flags.  Both American and Confederate.  It seems a lot of them really, really, really dislike President Biden.
  • Anne and David are both stronger, faster riders than me.
