I’m trying hard to pay close attention to the changing vegetation and I
am noticing incremental changes in plants and trees from our start at
the coast. It’s so interesting!
Other things I’ve observed:
- rural Florida is beautiful.
- big, huge ranches with calves frolicking near their moms.
- the trucks are big. The dogs are huge and mostly behind fences. Except for one. My already fast beating heart almost jumped out of my chest.
- boiled peanuts is a thing. Even in convenience stores.
- huge pine tree farms, large nature preserves and soooo many state parks.
- the birds sing beautifully to me as I bike past wildlife sanctuaries.
- a lot of people here really like big flags. Both American and Confederate. It seems a lot of them really, really, really dislike President Biden.
- Anne and David are both stronger, faster riders than me.

Picture 2: my view for the 23 miles she rode with me:: Anne way out ahead.
