Chris: Biloxi was a mixed bag. Riding along the gulf was incredibly beautiful. The day started so well. But then we ended up in urgent care and there went the day. David will explain. All is well and it wasn’t heart related.
Somehow we ended up staying at a fancy casino hotel. Thank you
Priceline. We looked like a pair of country nerds wheeling our bikes
through the casino with our cooler and super cool bike clothing. That
bed sure felt good though.
David and I decided there is a healthy tension that exists between us.
He likes to read plaques, the history of places we are traveling through
and talk to anyone and everyone he meets. He’s fully present in the
moment. I’ve been pretty focused on the goal of getting the miles in
even when I’m suffering. I get antsy when we stay in the same place
too long. I think I might regret passing too quickly through some of
these places so I’m going to slow it down a bit. Today we took a few
hours off and went into New Orleans.
We ate some gumbo soup, a po boy, some beignets, strolled through the French Market and heard three live jazz bands in and around Jackson Square and we were both happy!
Today I biked 46 miles on the Mississippi River levee. There is new construction going on right beside the levee. I don’t understand that. Who would insure a home in that location? It was great riding with homes and businesses on my right and huge barges and ships on my left but I kept thinking about hurricanes past and hurricanes future. It was so windy at times that I had to hold firmly to my bike handles.
I like to visit cities but they are not fun on a bike.
H) lovely flowers, and such engaging water. May the injury heal quickly and soundly with no long lasting effects. David, make sure you treat it like the way your grandfather would a broken chair: not moving the joinery while the glue is setting.
ReplyDeleteDavid, what happened!?
