David: We’re moving through what’s called Texas Hill Country. Chris rode
/ I drove through mostly cattle country today. Many of the barns and
houses in this area have a Germanic flair, because the first white
settlers in this area were German. (As of the 2010 census, about 17% of
Texans claimed German ethnic identity.)
It’s hard to give a sense of the scale of the hills in Hill Country.
Chris rode down this one. Gulp. There are higher ones on tap for
tomorrow.
Farmers here enjoy putting antique implements around their farms and fences.
These looked like fuzzy deer!
We hear about things being big in Texas. This farmer didn’t put cattle
guards at the end of his lane. He put them in the road! About 2 miles
apart. That’s how much land his cattle have to roam!
H) looks like the mississippi valley spring green is transitioning to rio grande valey late winter scrub. By the hoodie & cowl i am guessing the 30mph downhills are keeping Chris on the cool side. I hope her front wheel continues to run true. Above 30 gets death-defying
ReplyDeleteH) "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help"... oh, wait, that vehicle is not David.
ReplyDeleteThose 1st gear hills are real mileage killers, and leg killers. Don't stint on the glucose, beware anoxia, respect the cramp.
