Chris. We spent a couple days in El Paso to escape the 50-100 mph winds that were sweeping down from the Guadalupe Mountains north of Van Horn. you should have seen the RVs scrambling to get out of town. We got ahead of the worst of the storm and then I had to backtrack to make up the miles. I hate it when I need to do that but a hotel has been so nice! We got the bikes worked on and ran errands and lived like regular people for a few days.
No, we didn’t go to the beach. This is the mighty Rio Grande River that is dry as a bone. We rode along the river with Texas to our right, New Mexico to our left, Mexico just south of us and the Franklin Mountains to the north.
We had the best tacos in the world in El Paso. The food was so good at this restaurant we went there three times. I also thought it would be good to eat Krispy Kreme doughnuts after my yogurt, almonds and banana breakfast. They looked better than they tasted and I got a huge carb/sugar crash about an hour into my ride. I won’t make that mistake again. Oh, I probably will. I get so hungry I feel like eating a pig after biking hard for 5 or 6 hours.
Countryside around El Paso has a rugged beauty. These horses were magnificent and ran in fear from me. I just wanted to talk with them….
I’m tired of dressing like this but the alternative would be worse.
Looking into Mexico from El Paso.
I’m so close to New Mexico I can almost reach out and touch it. Nine hundred miles of Texas is enough.
Ok ok. I said Texas and you made it through Texas.

Also made it through New Mexico. Now what do you have to say? Fork it over.
DeleteH) whoo-ho!; NM , AZ, and CA will seem small now after the massif of texas. Glad you made the reality of El Paso for you what became only a former dream for me
